Sarah Brown welcomes Queen Rania in Downing Street
Sarah Brown, wife of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, must think she is jinxed. Since acceding to the role at the heart of British diplomacy she has made a lot of effort to project the right image. But the couple have been obliged to be photographed of some of the most beautiful celebrities in the world, much to her chagrin. The steps of number Ten have seen photoshoots with Carla Bruni and Michelle Obama in recent months. Mrs Brown is an intelligent woman and conveys a very good image of a loyal consort. She never puts a foot wrong – unlike her predecessor, the gaffe-prone Cherie Blair. On the world stage, however, the Browns have welcomed a succession of beautiful people whose light has oushone them on occaasion. Yesterday the guests were the King and Queen of Jordan, Queen Rania of Jordan and her husband King Abdullah II.
Queen Rania is just seven years younger that Sarah Brown, but she is blessed with a youthful look that belies her years. Coupled with a slim figure and long legs, the Queen seems to look good in almost any outfit – even this strange grey silky dress in the picture. This is a shame, as Sarah Brown has obviously worked hard to dress the part lately.
