Why Grant Bovey was evicted from Hell’s Kitchen

Grant Bovey was sacked for being too domineering
My Hell’s Kitchen predictions are mostly coming true! I said on 15 April that Grant Bovey was taking charge at Hell’s Kitchen in the celebrity group of chefs competing for the Hell’s Kitchen first prize.  Grant and wife Anthea Turner were very different characters in the kitchen: he is obviously used to getting his way in any group where decisions are being made, and this led indirectly to Grant Bovey’s Hell’s Kitchen sacking.  He pushed team leader Niomi MacLean-Daley to use his sauce, without revealing this was the first time he had created the recipe.  Chef Marco Pierre White hated the concoction and felt the other sauce would have been much better!  Although Marco chided Niomi and Danielle Bux for not standing up to Grant, Marco seemed

to recognise another forceful character in Bovey.  And there was no room for two roosters in the Hell’s Kitchen henhouse so Bovey had to go! As he delivered the sacking, Marco Pierre White told Bovey “You are a leader, you’re a boss.  “That kitchen is not big enough for two bosses. I am the boss of Hell’s Kitchen.” As Bovey was leaving, I thought the “man to man” scene where Grant implored Marco Pierre White to look after his wife was chivalrous bravado – what danger did he think she faced without him?
