Kissing Kate – and J-Lo, at Top Shop NY party

Snogging an old friend can be fun,and in you are a female celebrity it is now fashionable to give your girlfriends a smoochy smacker as well.  But what if you have only just met?  Maybe it was the effect of Kate’s mannish jacket that excited them, but this picture shows the pair’s intimate greeting.  The occasion was an A list celebrity dinner at Balthazar, thrown by Sir Philip Green to mark the opening of his Top Shop New York Flagship store. Green works closely with the model on the Kate Moss collection that restored her fortunes in the UK after those Coke problems.   Kate wore a dress and Tuxedo jacket from her high street range, naturally. J-Lo arrived in a body hugging white sheath that left little to the imagination. Later in the evening, Jennifer entertained the stars with some of her songs: James Blunt did the same.

Other celebrity guests at the launch party included Agyness Deyn,  Jennifer Hudson, Blondie singer Debbie Harry and designer Marc Jacobs.  The opening of the new Top Shop is expected to set the tills ringing, giving New York shoppers the chance to pick up catwalk looks at credit crunch prices.
