Michelle Obama and Sarah Brown miss the style target (reuters)
Oh dear! Things went so well for Michelle Obama on the first two days of her London visit – we were all beguiled by her effortless style. So how did she end up wearing this horrible creation today? Maybe she went through Princess Anne’s wardrobe while she was at the Palace – Anne is not renowned for her fashion sense! Or perhaps Sarah Brown was tired of the critical comparisons between their fashion sense. Did the PM’s wife give Ms Obama some “friendly” advice at last night’s spouses’ dinner?
Sadly, no – this oufit is Michelle’s own work. The full skirted dress was from a favourite designer, Jason Wu. The cardigan, which cost over £600, is by Junya Watanabe and seems based on a tartan golf jumper. But it is incongrously covered in sequins – for camp golfers, maybe?I don’t think the two shades of blue look right together, apart from the garish designs.
Sarah Brown fared little better: in blue again, but today’s Graeme Black suit made was too tight round the middle and it made yesterday’s tailored dress look good!
