Obamas every inch the celebrities

Here is a view of the Obama visit from the other side of the pond. This extraordinary celebrity couple won over everyone they met with a disarming open friendliness. Even the most cynical commentators have been affected by President Obama’s rhetoric and by Michelle Obama’s natural charm. Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown has been praised for her quiet ability to make the visit run smoothly – what a contrast to the demanding behaviour of Cherie Blair! I am sorry I was not more flattering about Sarah Brown’s outfits, because she is far preferable to the awful Cherie.

And official sources close to the Queen say she was not offended at the hug from Michelle. I suspect the Obamas are right at the top of the royal Christmas card list now.
