Queen Elizabeth cuts the cake at Kew Gardens 250th Anniversary
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh visited Kew Gardens this week to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the gardens in south west London. Officially known as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, this is a green oasis by the banks of the River Thames. Not just full of the most amazing plants and flowers, the gardens are home to plant research and recording. During their visit the Royal couple cut a cake depicting the famous Kew Orangery. They later planted two trees in the grounds at Kew, one of these was my all- time favourite, a Gingko. The Queen wore a pink coat with black buttons, accessorised by a pink wide brimmed hat with black trims.
