Fern Britton leaves This Morning in July
There is still no definite decision on the woman to join Philip Schofield on the sofa after Fern Britton leaves “This Morning”. There are two front runners, Myleene Klass and Melanie Sykes. Schofield says the decision will be down to him, but his predecessor has offered some sound advice. Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan were the first hosts of This Morning, from its launch in 1988. Madeley rates Myleene highly, after she worked as a guest host with him on the show. But he warned she is in danger of spreading her presence too thinly. She is the face of M & S, presenter of “10 Years Younger” and Klass also seems to appear on almost every other show calling for a pretty face. He has a point: there is a pint where the viewers get bored with the same faces all the time.
Richard Madeley had good things to say about Melanie Sykes, as well. She is best known as the female half of “Today with Des and Mel” – a show that epitmoises brainless daytime shows for me! But that doesn’t detract from her ability as a presenter. Sykes seems to have the slight edge for the job, based on the column inches her story has covered.
